Rituals are connectors- With our community With our traditions With our heritage Check-in: How are you today? Topic/Activity: There are various typed of rituals. Consider examples of the following types, when you have experienced that type of ritual, the impact of the ritual on you, and possible ways of incorporating that type of ritual with your group. (Note: This may take more than one Small Group Ministry session.) Rituals related to growth - birthdays, life changes, developmental milestones Rituals related to coping with crises - illness, loss of a loved one or a pet Rituals that build group identity and mutuality - lighting the chalice Rituals that extend the group’s connection beyond itself - traditions of caroling, visiting nursing homes, making cards for people who cannot get to church Closing words: The ritual makes possible the sharing of meaning in common experiences, the celebration of things and experiences that delight us, and the discovery of resources to live through things that are painful. These events take on religious significance when they dramatize the compassion, concern and joy of caring in a faith community. Likes and Wishes: How did the session go for you?
